As many of you might know, we had a funeral during the week for one our beloved men in the church, Barry Bourke. Now as you might know, Barry was a man of faith and his faith was squarely placed in the good news of Jesus Christ right up to his last breath. It’s here that I would like to share with you briefly a passage of scripture that meant so much to him and I know that he would want you to hear this so that you might be bought the same comfort that he had in Christ in the closing chapter of his life. The Goodness of Death
With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. Read more
